Judi Allen is president and founder of ALLENStrategies, a strategy consulting and interim management firm dedicated to adding value and improving the bottom line of her media clients. Her approach is flexible, hands-on and collaborative. Representative assignments include:
- Acting as interim SVP marketing for a major Canadian broadcaster, developed a multi-million dollar consumer tune-in promotion that raised ratings, produced the networks’ most successful upfront event ever, managed brand research and repositioning, including an on-air design agency search and restructured the marketing organization
- Led market discussions and analysis to develop broadband strategy and redeploy creative assets for a large cable network
- Acting as interim general manager of a mid-size cable television network, led repositioning and original programming development
- Led rebranding of three industry non-profits, clarifying value propositions and brand position
- Served as lead subject matter expert on content and negotiations strategy for a major telephone company planning entry in multi-channel video distribution
- Organized and led the start-up phase of programming negotiations for same Telco
- Developed entry strategy and market positioning for a commercial voice vendor by designing and executing unique research
- Prioritized new product development initiatives for a web and audio conferencing company
Allen has over twenty years of experience as an executive and consultant for a wide variety of companies in the media, financial and information services sectors. She formerly served as Senior Vice President, Video for MediaOne, leading all aspects of video product management, including content acquisition and negotiations, customer acquisition and retention, branding and product development.
Before MediaOne, Allen served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Programming for Century Communications Corporation and Vice President, National Accounts, Affiliate Relations at USA Network. She previously held marketing and management positions with Merrill Lynch, Procter & Gamble, and WJAR-TV in Providence, RI.
Allen serves on the Board of Directors of Rentrak Corporation (ticker: RENT) and the nonprofit Colorado Children’s Campaign. She is a former Executive Committee and Board member of the Cable Television Association for Marketing (CTAM), and has been a frequent Task Force member and speaker for Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). She graduated with the Charter Class of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute and was named one of the cable industry’s twelve most powerful women by Cablevision Magazine in 1999. Allen holds degrees from Harvard Business School and Brown University.
