Charlotte Field Named 2005 Women in Technology Award Winner
-Award Spotlights Female Technology Professionals in the Cable & Telecommunications Industry-
Chantilly, VA -- Charlotte Field, Senior Vice President of National Communications Engineering at Comcast Cable, is the winner of the 2005 Women in Technology Award. Sponsored by CommScope, this award is made possible through a joint effort of Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT), the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and Communications Technology magazine.
The annual Women in Technology Award recognizes the achievements of a female technology professional who has made significant contributions to the cable and telecommunications industry. In addition to exceptional technical skills and knowledge, the Women in Technology Award recipient must possess a commitment to enhancing the position of women who work in the industry. In this way, the award helps to create greater visibility for all women in technical careers.
Last year’s winner, Nomi Bergman, will present Field with the 2005 Women in Technology Award at a special luncheon on Wednesday, June 15 at SCTE’s Cable-Tec Expo 2005, taking place June 14–17 in San Antonio, Texas. The 2005 Women in Technology Award is presented by CommScope. Field will also be the subject of Communications Technology magazine’s June cover story.
About Charlotte Field
Charlotte Field is Senior Vice President of National Communications Engineering and Operations for Comcast. She is Comcast’s highest ranking woman in technology and engineering. Charlotte successfully leads the operations and administration of Comcast’s voice communications network serving 1.2 million circuit-switched phone customers and Comcast’s Voice over IP service. Following Comcast’s acquisition of AT&T Broadband, Charlotte managed the integration of AT&T Broadband’s phone operations into Comcast’s and skillfully re-engineered the operations to strategically position Comcast to launch its Digital Voice product.
In 2004 the Rocky Mountain chapter of WICT inducted Charlotte into their Walk of Fame, in recognition of her mentoring activities. Charlotte graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and earned an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She completed an intensive study program at AT&T Bell Laboratories with a focus on electrical and computer science/engineering and is a graduate of the INSEAD Executive Management Program and Harvard’s Advanced Management Program.
