The Forerunner Accolades for Best Programmer for Women in Cable and Best Operator for Women in Cable is determined by the results of the PAR Initiative.

Forerunner Accolades, created in 1984 and assuming various award titles over the years, have been given out to an individual, company, or organization that has created an even playing field and is committed to an environment that encourages, develops and promotes women to executive positions within an organization and the industry.

Beginning in 2003, the Forerunner Accolades are awarded to the Best Companies for Women in Cable as determined by the PAR Initiative.
