Learn about the new focus of the Girl Scouts of America, the work of Girls, Inc. and the Denver Hispanic Chamber's Circle of Latina Leadership Program.
Connie Campbell, a member of the Girl Scouts Board of Directors for Colorado, will share how, driven by the new realities of our ever-changing world, Girl Scouts is undergoing unprecedented movement-wide changes that are focused on developing leadership programs to meet the needs of young girls today. Connie will also discuss how the organization is working to align its operations to meet the challenges of the young girls of today and the future.
Carol Bower, President and CEO of Girls, Inc., will share the vision of Girls Inc. to empower and inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold. Since it was founded as a national organization in 1945, Girls, Inc. has expressed its values through a Girls' Bill of Rights. While the document has changed over time, the focus has always been helping girls develop skills for their own success. Thus Girls, Inc. focuses on research and programs for various age groups ranging from 6-11 and 12-18. Certain outreach programs also serve boys in the same age groups.
Erika Reyes, former Executive Director of the Circle of Latina Leadership Program sponsored by the Denver Hispanic Chamber's Education Foundation, will share with you how this Program provides leadership training to young women entering the workforce which is focused onSelf-Empowerment and Community Service. The curriculum includes programs such as: Personal Power & Identity; Teamwork & Community Building; Cultural & Spiritual Foundations of Leadership; Projecting a Powerful Image; and Accessing the Media & Public Speaking.
