Q: First, would you please tell us what winning the boot camp scholarship means to you as a recent WICT member?
A:“Cable Boot Camp was a wonderful experience. I am very appreciative of the opportunity WICT has provided me. Every detail was taken care of, from my flight, to the hotel, and transportation to and from the Cable Center. It was inspiring to hear other WICT members discuss how WICT has helped in developing their careers. It makes me want to become more involved with WICT.”
Q: Has Cable Boot Camp helped you gain more insight into the cable industry?
A: “Cable Boot Camp had many informative seminars, including Cable History, Cable Technology and Delivery, and Cable Finance. I learned a lot from the presentations, especially in areas I was not familiar with, like Finance. I actually got 100% on the finance quiz at the end of the presentation, and Dr. Ron Rizzuto sent me a copy of his book, Managing by the Numbers for this.”
Q: To what extent do you think the program affected your work, and eventually your career development?
A: “The networking was fantastic. I got to meet a lot of different people in the industry, and the presentations on “Careers in Cable” and “Career Dos and Don’ts” were particularly informative. It was inspiring to hear how other women have developed their cable careers, and hear their tips and suggestions.”
Q: What key takeaways did you learn from attending Cable Boot Camp?
A: “A key takeaway was the choice consumers have when it comes to cable, from Dish to Telcos to over-the-top technology. We need to provide the best products and customer service, be proactive, and Think Customer First. I strongly recommend Cable Boot Camp. It was a fabulous experience. I made lots of professional contacts, and the Cable Center and its staff were wonderful.”
