Chantilly, VA - Women in Cable Telecommunications today announced that Nomi Bergman, President, Bright House Networks, and Yvette Kanouff, President, SeaChange International, will each deliver a keynote address at the organization's Tech It Out program on November 16, 2011.
Bergman is the 2011 WICT Woman of the Year and was also the 2004 Women in Technology Award honoree. Kanouff is the 1997 Women in Technology Award honoree. The program will also feature Susan Adams, SVP, Engineering & Technical Operations, Comcast - Northeast Division; recently named the 2011 Women in Technology Award honoree, who will take part in a panel discussion.
"The technology arena offers tremendous opportunities for women," said Christina Vergara, WICT's Vice President, Education & Program Development. "To attract more women to these positions, role models are key. Nomi and Yvette are two of the industry's most prominent examples of women who are making a difference and setting standards for others to follow, and we are so pleased that they will be sharing their knowledge and insight with Tech It Out participants."
The 2011 Tech It Out Program will be held inside of SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo in Atlanta, with NAMIC and SCTE serving as partners. The sessions and hours have been expanded to allow time for more in-depth educational content and a hands-on tour of the Spotlight Pavilion at Expo (see detailed agenda below).
Research reveals that the number of women in technology positions is alarmingly low, and according to WICT's PAR Initiative survey, the number is trending downward. To help reverse this trend, WICT's Tech It Out Program was launched in 2009 to build a strong network of women leaders in cable technology.
Registration is limited to 150 attendees; complete registration details are posted on the WICT website.
WICT recognizes the following sponsors of 2011 Tech It Out: Bright House Networks, TARGUSinfo, ARRIS, The Weather Channel, SeaChange International, and industry partners NAMIC and SCTE. The Walter Kaitz Foundation has generously underwritten the WICT Tech It Out program.
