Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) today announced that it now represents 7,880 members, having surpassed the 7,000 member milestone achieved in June. With a presence in key media markets, WICT includes twenty chapters nation wide.
“Our growth in membership reflects the strength of WICT’s programming and advocacy initiatives that benefit our members,” said Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, WICT President & CEO, “as well as the recognition that WICT is a strategic partner in the development of a powerful talent pool for companies in the cable telecommunications industry.”
Since 2004, WICT membership has steadily increased, with 2008 representing a year of roughly 14 percent growth or nearly 1,000 members, the second highest annual growth rate attained since 2004. More than 40 percent of WICT’s new members results from member referrals, reflecting the value WICT members and their companies place in WICT.
Membership in WICT is open to all cable telecommunication professionals, male and female. Members receive discounted registrations to WICT national programs as well as access to programming from local WICT chapters. WICT provides essential research to members, including the ground breaking PAR Initiative, that assesses industry progress and identifies best practices related to Pay Equity, Advancement Opportunities, and Resources for Work/Life Support. The PAR at Work newsletter showcases individuals who have personally benefited from the best practices of the PAR Best Companies and provides proven career development strategies.
Recognition for industry accomplishments through WICT’s awards programs, discounts on trade and leadership publications and access to WICT’s online career center are also some of the benefits of membership.
