CAROLYN TERRY NAMED 2007 WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY AWARD WINNER -- Award Spotlights Female Technology Professionals in the Cable Telecommunications Industry--
Chantilly, VA – Carolyn Terry, Regional Director of Engineering for Time Warner Cable’s Los Angeles Region, is the winner of the 2007 Women in Technology Award. Sponsored by CommScope, this award is made possible through a joint effort of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and Communications Technology magazine.
The annual Women in Technology Award recognizes the achievements of a female technology professional who has made significant contributions to the cable and telecommunications industry. In addition to exceptional technical skills and knowledge, the Women in Technology Award recipient must possess a commitment to enhancing the position of women who work in the industry. In this way, the award helps to create greater visibility for all women in technical careers.
Last year’s winner, Vicki Marts, Director of Video Engineering at Cox Communications for the Kansas and Arkansas systems, will present the 2007 Women in Technology Award during the Annual Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, June 20 at SCTE’s Cable-Tec Expo® 2007, taking place June 19-22 in Orlando, Florida. The 2007 Women in Technology Award recipient also will be the subject of an upcoming Communications Technology June cover story.
About Carolyn TerryCarolyn Terry worked her way up from an entry level installer at Comcast in 1986 to her current position as Regional Director of Engineering for the Time Warner Cable Los Angeles Region, with over 1.9 million subscribers. She spent her first eleven years in the cable industry with Comcast, working her way up to Technical Services Manager. In 1997 she was promoted at Comcast to California Area Staff Engineer, where she provided engineering support to system operating management and project construction management. She also acted as a liaison between the region engineering department and operating units. During this time, Carolyn received her Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, with highest honors.
After receiving her engineering degree, Carolyn became a Senior Consultant with KPMG Consulting, then Director of Cable Technology for Digeo, inc., and later Director of Broadband Communications Center for Altrio Communications. In 2004, she was named the Regional Director of Advance Video Services in Los Angeles for Adelphia Communications. In this capacity, she was responsible for leading the development, evaluation, deployment and support of advanced video services within the region. These systems became a part of Time Warner Cable in July 2006 and at that time Carolyn assumed her current position with Time Warner.
Carolyn is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers. In October 2006, she was the recipient of the Woman to Watch Award from the WICT Southern California chapter. She recently completed the Technical Management Program at UCLA.

All three women currently serving on SCTE’s Board of Directors are Women in Technology Award winners, including chairman Gordon-Kanouff, past-treasurer Kinsman and now western vice chair Marts. Additionally, Nomi Bergman serves as a member of the WICT Board of Directors.
