WICT, OXYGEN AND MULTICHANNEL NEWS NAME BERNICE COE AWARD WINNER; WICT FOUNDATION AWARDS THREE FELLOWSHIPS-Winners to Attend WICT Forum-
Chantilly, VA- Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT) Foundation today announced that it has awarded three fellowships to the WICT Forum 2005. Additionally, WICT, Oxygen and Multichannel News announced the winner of the 2005 Bernice Coe Award.
Cathy Traczek, director of operations for Comcast in Chicago, is the 2005 winner of the Bernice Coe Award. The award covers all travel, lodging and registration expenses for the WICT Forum 2005.
Suzanne Altshuler, point of sale manager for Starz Entertainment Group in Philadelphia, is the winner of the 2005 Cheryl Green Fellowship.
Jacqueline Hillsbery, financial analyst for Comcast Cable, in Beaverton, Oregon, is this year’s recipient of the Lucille Larkin Fellowship. Gena Nason, manager, marketing on demand at NBC Universal, Burbank, California, is the recipient of the June Travis Fellowship.
The Lucille Larkin Fellowship and the Cheryl Greene Fellowship award the recipient one full registration to the WICT Forum. The June Travis Fellowship provides full registration and most travel expenses to the WICT Forum.
The Bernice Coe Award will be presented during the WICT Executive Member Reception, April 3, at the NCTA National Show. The Bernice Coe Award is presented by Oxygen, Multichannel News, and WICT in honor of Bernice Coe Stavis, a member of the first governing board of WICT. One of the first women to head an independent film-distribution company, she supplied product to launch some of today’s most successful cable television networks, including Nickelodeon and The Discovery Channel. She is best remembered for mentoring two generations of women executives who followed her in the cable industry and became leaders in broadcast and cable television, including Geraldine Laybourne.
2005 WICT FORUMThe 2005 WICT Forum will be held May 11-13, 2005 as part of the Spring Cable Week created by WICT’s partnership with Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s AIDS action organization. The week will kick off on Monday with NAMIC’s East Coast Creative Summit. Tuesday will feature a breakfast seminar hosted by Horowitz Associates and will be followed by the annual WICT New York Chapter’s Wonder Women luncheon sponsored by Multichannel News. That evening Cable Positive will present the organization’s highest honor, the Joel A. Berger Memorial Award for outstanding contribution in the fight against AIDS, to Carole Black at the annual benefit dinner. Registrations for the WICT Forum are now being accepted.
The 2005 WICT Forum is presented by Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., MTV Networks, Showtime Networks, Inc., Scripps Networks, Advance/Newhouse Communications, Rainbow Media Holdings LLC and Lifetime.
