Dr. Raychelle Burks

St. Edward's University

After a few years working in a crime lab, Raychelle Burks returned to academia. An analytical chemist, Raychelle enjoys the challenge developing detection methods for a wide variety of drugs and explosives. Her current research focuses on the design, fabrication, and analysis of portable color-changing sensors. Raychelle hopes to ignite her students' appreciation of chemistry through innovative projects, multimedia education tools, and probably far too many pop culture references. Raychelle is a popular science communicator, appearing on the Science Channel's Outrageous Acts of Science, ACS Reactions videos, and at genre conventions, as well as writing a monthly forensic science column for the Royal Society of Chemistry.
