Adrienne Byrd is Vice President, Legal and Standard Practices for Sprout®, the first 24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online for kids ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers. An accomplished professional with 20 years of experience in corporate and media law, Byrd manages the business and legal affairs departments and is responsible for structuring all deals, negotiating agreements and overseeing corporate governance and strategic planning. As chief legal counsel, she also ensures that the network is in compliance with FCC and FTC regulations and provides legal guidance to all departments across the network. Additionally, Byrd serves as Secretary to the Sprout Board of Managers.
Prior to joining Sprout, Byrd served for three years at Comcast Corporation as a member of their in-house legal team. Most recently, as Senior Counsel she was responsible for supporting the legal needs of the programming department, a regional sports net and a wholly-owned cable network. In this role she negotiated and drafted affiliation agreements with domestic and third-party programming content providers and agreements for the production of original programming.
Prior to her tenure at Comcast, Byrd was Associate of Counsel for Cole Raywid & Braverman, LLP where she was responsible for general corporate, new media, and entertainment transitions in which she represented cable programmers, interactive television programmers, radio broadcasters, venture capitalists and internet businesses with emphasis on B2B e-commerce and privacy issues.
Byrd serves on the board of directors for the Settlement Music School, the largest community school of the arts in the United States, which is dedicated to providing children and adults with the highest individual and group instruction and activity in music, dance and the related arts.
Byrd holds a B.S. from Towson State University and a Juris Doctorate from George Washington University. Byrd is a member of the American Bar Association and licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Maryland and the District of Columbia. She is currently a member of NAMIC, and Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). She and her husband live in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia with their son.
