Amber Schwiesow

Amber Schwiesow is the Director of Procurement, Supply Chain and Tower Management for Midco®, based in Minneapolis, MN. Midco® delivers leading internet, cable TV, phone and home automation services in Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota and Kansas. In her current role, Amber is working to bring automation and data science to the supply chain to build a system and team that will complement the company’s larger strategic plans. Amber also oversees Tower Management where she works on the team that is developing the strategy for fixed wireless technology and operational execution. Amber previously held the role of Director of Business Engineering and Operations, where she led business engineering, sales engineering and technical operations. Amber worked to launch private cloud services to expand Midco’s business service offerings by leveraging the company’s regional datacenter infrastructure.

Since joining Midco®, Amber voted on to the Midwest board of Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT), is a member of the Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and has been an active participant in CableLabs specifically their UpRamp Fiterator® program. Amber is passionate about women in technology and serves on the DSU Cybersecurity Industry Advisory Board, the Career and Technical Academy Advisory Board, is the Tech It Out Chair for WICT Midwest where she organizes events around women in tech and was recently featured in a documentary series highlighting women in leadership positions in the technology industry. In April 2017, Amber won the EmBe Tribute to Women Healthcare and STEM award for her work in engineering and technology.

Raised in Guadalajara and educated in the Midwest, Amber learned early on to think and act both globally and locally. Prior to joining Midco in 2015, she worked in international operations at a global precision agriculture firm, as well as in international product distribution and marketing for the ethanol industry. Amber graduated with honors from the University of Iowa and holds bachelor’s degrees in International Studies, Spanish and Portuguese. She also holds an MBA from the University of Sioux Falls.

In her private life, family, fitness and giving back are her top priorities. An avid marathoner and triathlete, Amber also stays busy volunteering.  Amber has volunteered for Junior Achievement as a Spanish immersion volunteer for 9 years and has also served as the Chair of the Sioux Falls Young Professional Network and spent many years coaching young girls at Girls on the Run. Amber currently serves as the Strategic Planning Chair for Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota Board of Directors.

When Amber is not running around Sioux Falls – literally or figuratively – she is the mom to a 2-year-old daughter who keeps her on her toes and reminds her that all the work that she is doing is ultimately to leave the world a better place for those that come after her.
