Carolyn Hong

Carolyn Hong is a Coordinating Producer for ESPN’s Enterprise Unit, which produces investigative, issue-oriented content primarily for the award-winning sports magazine show, "Outside the Lines."  In her role, she oversees a team of investigative reporters and producers and is involved in the production of as many as ten stories at a time.  During her tenure with ESPN’s Enterprise Unit, the group has been recognized with several prestigious awards including the Alfred I. DuPont Columbia University and George Foster Peabody awards.

 

Carolyn got her start at ESPN as a Coordinating Producer for ESPNews before moving to ESPN’s morning SportsCenters.  Prior to ESPN, she was an investigative news producer at KCBS-TV, WLWT-TV and WTTG-TV.  In her 25 years in broadcast journalism, Carolyn’s work has been recognized by an Edward R. Murrow award and seven Emmys.

 

A member of the Asian American Journalists Association, Carolyn co-founded and chaired the organization’s Sports Task Force, which strives to strengthen the pipeline of Asian Americans sports journalists through programming and mentoring opportunities.  The task force offers three scholarships and an internship to sports journalism students.  

 

A graduate of Reed College in Portland, OR, Carolyn earned her B.A. in English Literature.  A Maryland native, she’s a die-hard Baltimore Orioles fan and roots for Washington, D.C. sports teams. 

 

A resident of Connecticut, Carolyn spends her free time with her husband (an electrical engineer and U.S. Navy veteran) working out, attending sporting events and taking Caribbean vacations during cold New England winters.  She’s also mom to two awesome dogs.
