Christina Capatides

Christina Capatides is the Senior Director of Social Media and Trending Content for CBS News. In this role, she oversees the discovery, assignment and production of hundreds of articles and videos per month on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, CBSN, CBSNews.com and CBS News’ OTT platforms. She also oversees the social media strategy for the CBS News, CBS Evening News, CBS This Morning, Face The Nation, CBS Sunday Morning, and 48 Hours accounts across social media platforms.


Under Capatides’ leadership, CBS News developed and launched its first two social video franchises, “The Uplift” and “Down To Earth,” strategically shaping them into enormously successful award-winning brands. 

During her tenure as head of social, Capatides built a formidable social discovery and production team that specializes in the utilization of social listening tools to complement reporting and maximize traffic. CBS News’ social media accounts have also increased their followers, engagement and viewership consistently across the board, delivering the news to millions of people daily in competitive and cutting edge ways.

 

Formerly, Capatides served as a Senior Producer on CBSN Originals documentaries and CBSN specials. Before joining CBS Interactive in 2015, she produced and edited television news packages for “World News Tonight” and “Good Morning America,” working out of ABC News’ DC Bureau and focusing on the White House, Congress and the Department of Justice.

 

Capatides holds a B.A. from Georgetown University and an M.A. from New York University.
