Cynthia Derick

Cynthia Derick serves as Vice President Western Division for Disney and ESPN Media Networks Affiliate Sales and Marketing. In this capacity, she plans and directs overall affiliate field sales and marketing activities in 28 states for the portfolio of networks and services from Disney and ESPN including linear video, high definition, video-on-demand and broadband. She oversees two regional offices, 18 field sales professionals and support staff. She’s been with The Walt Disney Company since 1989 where she took on varying sales capacities including National Accounts management, Regional Sales and Marketing. At the top of the list of the most notable milestones in her career, is the sales role she played in the migration of Disney Channel from a premium channel into a basic network, increasing the network’s distribution from 12 million to now over 85 million subscribers. Additionally, she and her sales team successfully completed retransmission consent negotiations for ABC in the ten Owned and Operated markets in 1999 and 2002. They also launched Toon Disney in 1998 and SOAPnet in 2000. She started her career in the cable industry in 1985 with Falcon Cable where she worked in different marketing capacities. Some of her key accomplishments include successfully launching Choice TV Magazine in close to 150,000 homes; and playing a major role in the company’s endeavor to improve its customer satisfaction ratings She graduated Magna Cum Laude at College of the Holy Spirit in Mendiola, Manila – Philippines with a dual Bachelors degree in Psychology and Business Management. In addition, she is also an alumnus of the CTAM Executive Management Program having completed the program in 2001 at Harvard Business School Executive Education. Ms. Derick is a first-generation Filipino-American and lives in the Los Angeles area with her husband, Chris and their two children.
