Deborah Wilson

Deborah Wilson is currently Vice President, Human Resources for Cox Communications – New England.  Cox Communications is a Fortune 500 company with 5.9 million total residential and commercial customers. Cox delivers a competitive choice of advanced digital products and services through broadband communications, including voice, video and data.  Ms. Wilson is responsible for development and execution of New England human resources strategies and culture change initiatives including leadership development, talent and performance management, organizational development, employee relations, diversity, recruitment and retention, and compensation and benefits.

Ms. Wilson joined Cox in 2001 from HorizonGuide, Inc. (Division of T. Rowe Price), where she was responsible for all human resources functions for the start –up company. She previously held leadership roles at A T & T Broadband, MediaOne, Continental Cablevision and various units of United Technologies Corporation.

Ms. Wilson’s accomplishments include design and implementation of competitive human resource programs, merger integrations, industry recognition and awards for innovation in the development of diversity strategies, and employee communication initiatives aimed at retention and recruitment. Her credentials include participation and successful completion of Leadership Rhode Island (Leadership Rhode Island), Creating an Inclusive Environment (Gardenswartz & Rowe) and Benchmark Certification (Center for Creative Leadership). Ms. Wilson also volunteers as a mentor for Delta Academy and Leadership Delta, the Hampton Alumni and Darden Alumni Association and numerous other organizations.

Ms. Wilson is a graduate of Hampton University where she earned a B.A. in Finance.  She earned a M.B.A. at the Darden Graduate School of Business – University of Virginia, where she was a PepsiCo fellow.

She is a member of NAMIC, the Society of Human Resources Management, Human Resource Management Association of Rhode Island, CablePAC, Northeast Human Resources Association, ASTD, Human Resource Leadership Forum, Women in Cable Telecommunication, and Delta Sigma Theta – Public Service Sorority and a previous appointment by the Governor to the Rhode Island Human Resource Investment Council.
