Gemma Toner

Gemma Toner is a dynamic Media and Telecommunications Executive driving innovation at the intersection of Big Data, Technology and Digital Media. She has a demonstrated ability to build and grow high performance businesses and champion holistic customer-centric solutions, by identifying strategic insights, developing groundbreaking products, and delivering innovative marketing/communications programs. Gemma is highly regarded for inspiring large teams and building performance-driven cultures to effect transformational change; mobilizing and deploying strategic assets, resources and people; and delivering results that consistently exceed expectations.

 

Most recently, Gemma was SVP, Business Insights and Strategy at Cablevision Systems Corporation, leading an enterprise-wide big data initiative designed to utilize advanced analytics to build and grow businesses and drive strategic planning. During her tenure, she held roles in Marketing, Business Development and Product Management, working closely with the executive team to push technology to consumer and business segments, and creating an award-winning suite of products. These groundbreaking, first to market industry initiatives included Optimum Online (fastest growing ISP in the US at the time), Optimum Wifi (largest wifi network in NY metro area), Optimum Rewards, Optimum Voice and Optimum Select (interactive advertising).

 

Prior to Cablevision, Gemma rose through the ranks at AMC Networks to become SVP, New Media Development. There, she led the development of new media and interactive opportunities for AMC Networks, positioning the company to capitalize on emerging entertainment platforms. Gemma began her career as an Auditor at Ernst and Whinney before moving to Rainbow Advertising Sales Company as an Account Executive.

 

Gemma received her Bachelor of Science, Accounting degree from Villanova University, Villanova, PA. She is the past Chairperson for CTAM (Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketers); other roles have included Member of Executive Committee, Co-Chairman of CTAM Chapters Council and Chapter Liaison to CTAM National Board, and President, New England Chapter. Gemma has also been a past board member at WICT (Women in Cable Television), as well as a Wonder Woman and Tami recipient. She has recently been awarded a patent for The System and Method for Set Top Box Viewing Data, which enables the use of set top box data to measure audience viewing patterns.
