Gemma Toner

Gemma Toner is the Cablevision executive in charge of the company’s research, audience measurement, retention and interactive advertising marketing functions. In this role, Ms. Toner is responsible for establishing advanced research and audience measurement techniques and developing partnerships. She recently played an instrumental role in the launch of Cablevision’s groundbreaking interactive advertising and direct-response product, Optimum Select.

Under Ms Toner’s direction, Cablevision has entered into a broad array of marketing partnerships benefiting the company’s voice, video and high-speed Internet customers – alliances spanning a full range of wireless, e-commerce, retail, banking and consumer electronics products and services. She is also responsible for the design and execution of Cablevision’s retention initiatives, most significantly the Optimum Rewards program – which delivers value and unique benefits to Cablevision’s three-product customers, and the company’s online store, Optimum Store.com.

Prior to her current position, Ms Toner has held several posts at Cablevision and Rainbow Media Holdings. She most recently served as senior vice president of market strategy and customer growth responsible for multiple product growth, research and competitive positioning.

As senior vice president of high-speed data products, Ms. Toner was responsible for the product development, marketing and growth of the Optimum Online high-speed Internet service. She served as senior vice president of new media development for Cablevision’s Rainbow Media Holdings American Movie Classics (AMC) network, where she developed new media and interactive opportunities for the network to capitalize on emerging entertainment and retail platforms.

Ms. Toner joined Cablevision in 1988 with Rainbow Advertising Sales Corporation where she rose to the position of senior vice president, strategic planning of the eastern region for AMC.  Before joining Cablevision, she worked at Ernst and Whinney in New York City. Ms. Toner received a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania. She is a CTAM Board member and past chapter president.
