Jason Sarlanis

Jason Sarlanis is President of Crime and Investigative Content, Linear and Streaming at Discovery, Inc where he oversees  programming development, production, content strategy and operations as well as research, publicity and marketing for series and documentaries airing across the ID linear network and true crime content streaming on discovery+.  ID is currently the #2 network (2021 to date) for Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 in total day and has delivered breakout hits for the discovery+ platform including Queen of Meth, Relentless and American Detective.  He reports to Kathleen Finch, chief lifestyle brands officer at Discovery, Inc.

Sarlanis  joined Discovery in 2016 as Senior Vice President, Development at TLC.  He led development on all original programming for the TLC linear network as well as love and relationship, family and lifestyle content for discovery+.  In his tenure, Sarlanis was responsible for procuring breakout hits which led TLC to become the #1 primetime cable network for women in 2020.  Sarlanis spearheaded the expansion of the 90 Day Fiancé universe with ratings juggernauts The Other Way, Darcey & Stacey and The Family Chantel and championed streaming series Bares All, Love Games, and The Single Life. Other recent brand-defining programs include hit series sMothered, UnExpected, I Love a Mama’s Boy as well as My Feet Are Killing Me and family docusoaps Welcome to Plathville, 1000 LB Sisters, and Doubling Down with the Derricos

Prior to TLC, Sarlanis joined the network from ABC as Vice President, Alternative Series and Specials, developing new series such as To Tell the Truth and Battlebots. His role included representing Disney ABC Television Group’s Alternative Department in the international format marketplace.  In addition, Sarlanis served as Vice President, Original Programming and Series Development at E! Entertainment Television where he developed and provided creative oversight of series including The Soup, Fashion Police, The Girls Next Door, Live from the Red Carpet, and Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Before joining ABC, Sarlanis also served as Senior Vice President at Ryan Seacrest Productions.  

 Sarlanis graduated from Boston University with a B.S. in Film & Television and is based in Los Angeles.
