After beginning her college education at Illinois State University, Jennifer Wesson obtained her B.S. Accounting degree from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama. Upon moving to Atlanta Georgia, she joined a small advertising company, Summit Marketing Group, as a Billing Coordinator. After five years, she had been promoted to Accounting Supervisor and was managing a team of six accounts payable and accounts receivable coordinators.
Jennifer joined Turner in 2000 as a Senior Accountant in Ad Sales Revenue, the team responsible for the accounting for advertising revenues, accounts receivable, and cash collections for all of Turner’s domestic networks. Within one year, she was promoted to Accounting Manager, and then she transitioned within the Ad Sales team to be the Manager of Financial Analysis responsible for advertising expense forecasting and budgeting.
In 2006, Jennifer transferred to Turner’s Corporate Accounting group as an Accounting Manager where she oversaw the accounting, forecasting, and budgeting for Research, Finance & Accounting, the CNN Tour, and the CNN store businesses. In 2008, she transferred to the News accounting team as an Assistant Controller, supporting the growing digital businesses (CNN.com and Money.com), and then became the Controller of the digital team later that year. In 2010, the News accounting team formed a Center of Excellence, and with this reorganization, Jennifer became the Controller for the Newsgathering and Programming functional areas.
Jennifer was an integral part of the development of the Turner-wide Accounting Center of Excellence and, upon its July 2011 launch, joined that team as the Controller for the Newsgathering, Marketing & Other Content functional areas within the Content and Promotions area. In 2013, she added additional responsibilities and team members to her organization and is currently the Controller for the Live Programming, Marketing and Other Content team which directly and indirectly manages 28 employees.
Jennifer is a member of the AICPA and is an active CPA in the state of Georgia.
