Karla Whalen

​​Karla Whalen serves as a Senior Project Manager III in Technology Services for Cox Communications, based out of Phoenix, AZ. She is a recognized leader with more than 12 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. In the last 7 years with Cox Communications, Karla has led several large scale network deployment initiatives in the Southwest Region that have significantly increased the customer experience. Karla has continuously demonstrated analytical thinking skills, and fostered collaboration, while navigating the numerous competing priorities of cross-functional teams. The successes achieved are directly related to Karla’s expertise in establishing meaningful relationships and a contagious enthusiasm for the end goal. Karla and team have modeled their regional processes into national standards for shared accomplishments between regions.

 

An active WICT Southwest member for the past 3 years, Karla has served on the board as Outreach Chair since 2013. In that time, she has succeeded in signing up 25% of the membership base as volunteers. Her current focus is on developing a volunteer placement program that will help create a natural succession plan for the diverse board member positions.

 

Karla graduated with honors from the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Scottsdale, AZ. As a lifelong learner, she is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology Management and a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification. Karla is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and would like to focus on a CCNA (Cisco) certification next.

 

When not at work, Karla spends time performing culinary experiments on her husband and two children. She loves outdoor adventures with her family and two dogs in the stunning landscapes of the Wild, Wild West.
