As Vice President of Standards & Practices for A+E Television Networks, Kathleen is responsible for ensuring that all AETN content meets the standards of good taste and community acceptability, while also allowing creative departments the freedom to take risks and explore new and innovative ideas. To accomplish these goals, the review process requires each piece of content to be individually evaluated, with factors such as subject matter, context, platform, audience expectation, and rating be taken into consideration. Kathleen advises network executives on a myriad of interesting issues including, but not limited to, anti-social behavior, drugs, language, sex and nudity, the treatment of animals, and violence.
Kathleen began her career in the NBC Page Program at 30 Rock in New York City. From there she segued into television production landing a job with the late night talk show, "Later…with Bob Costas," where she earned an Emmy for Outstanding Informational Series. Transitioning from production to a more corporate role, Kathleen made the jump to Standards & Practices at MTV Networks where she utilized her production background in recommending creative solutions to problematic content. Kathleen spent 15 years with MTVN, rising to the rank of Vice President of Standards & Practices for the MTV Music Group, overseeing content at MTV, VH1 and CMT, as well as their offshoot channels. In 2010, she joined A+E Networks and has spent the last 5 years advising on programming for A&E, FYI, HISTORY and Lifetime.
Kathleen graduated from Dickinson College with a Bachelor of Arts in a self-developed Communications major. She lives in Madison, New Jersey with her husband and their three children.
