Kym A. Harris, Ed.D. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Your SweetSpot™ Coaching and Consulting. Your SweetSpot Coaching and Consulting partners with organizations and their leaders to strengthen leadership capability and cultivate relationships that enhance the leader’s ability to influence, collaborate, motivate, and lead.  The Your SweetSpot coaching model guides clients through a process that results in increased self-awareness; stronger emotional intelligence; enhanced decision-making ability; and the identification of ways to contribute beyond their core responsibilities. Your SweetSpot Coaching helps clients understand the importance of balancing results with authentic relationships and builds the skills necessary to act on that understanding. 

Dr. Harris is a board certified coach, speaker and author with expertise in executive coaching, leadership development, and career management strategies. She is known for her action oriented coaching model, which is grounded in value-based decision making, personal accountability, and the pursuit of authentic relationships. Described as a "velvet hammer," she utilizes a strategic and intuitive approach to guide clients out of their comfort zones in a way that minimizes discomfort and amplifies desired results.  Along with coaching individuals and corporate clients, Dr. Harris also serves as a personal coach for the Kennesaw State University Coles Executive MBA and MBA Programs.

Dr. Harris’ 27-year career in Human Resources and Talent Development represents  leadership and executive roles in higher education (University of  Miami and Emory University), and  corporate America (The Home Depot and Cox Enterprises). 

Dr. Harris serves as the board chair for the  Women’s Employment Opportunity Project (WEOP), which fosters economic  development for women and volunteers with Emerge, which provides scholarships to support women who have demonstrated a deep commitment to reaching their educational goals and giving back to their communities.  She also serves as a mentor in the Spelman College Coca Cola Leadership Mentor Program.

 

Dr. Harris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rutgers University, a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University, and a Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University.

Dr. Harris has been a guest on Global Leader Radio with Alvin Miles, and appeared on Sunday Straight Talk with Tina Douglas on V-103, Visions with Cedric Varner on the NBC affiliate WSFA-TV in Montgomery Alabama, InContact with Angela Robinson, and Black Enterprise Business Report with Caroline Clark.  Black Enterprise Magazine and Black Enterprise.com have also interviewed her for advice on career strategies for executive success during the first 100 days, self-promotion as a career strategy, and strategies for making career changes after 40. Jet Magazine featured Dr. Harris as a subject matter expert on effective career management strategies.

Keynotes, Speaking, and Workshop Facilitation

Dr. Harris has served as keynote speaker for the Kimberly Clark Corporation Compass Award Program, the American Association of Blacks in Energy; and panelist for the Corporate Council Women of Color Conference.   Dr. Harris’s keynotes  and workshop facilitation empasize the importance of the Emotional Intelligence as  a career management strategy, in leadership development initiatives, and as a tool to strengthen executive effectiveness.  Her 2014 speaking schedule includes the Black Enterprise Women of Power Conference, Women in Foodservice Forum Annual Leadership Conference , Lockheed Martin Annual Women’s Conference,  Produce Marketing Association Women’s Leadership Conference, Women In Technology (WIT) Executive Readiness Program, Time Warner Cable (TWC) Mentoring Program Executive Speaker Series, The Coca-Cola Company Global Business Services, Turknett Leadership Group – Women in Leadership (WIL),  WellPoint  Healthcare Systems, Women in Cable Telecommunication (WICT), Popeye’s Women’s Leadership Forum, and W ellsFargo Emerging Leader Mentor Program.​

The Personal Side

Kym is originally from New Jersey and has enjoyed life in Atlanta for over twenty years. Her favorite meal is breakfast, which she will eat anytime of the day. She is the proud auntie of four brilliant and beautiful nieces, Kalila (21) , Zakiya (19), Sydni (14), and Adeera (11).
