Marilyn S. Burrows

Marilyn S. Burrows, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Communications, Las Vegas oversees all operations of the Las Vegas system which serves more than 420,000 customers. The Cox Las Vegas system offers analog and advanced digital video programs and services, high-speed Internet service, Cox Digital Telephone, commercial data services, and in-room guest technology services to the hospitality and gaming industries, under the Hospitality Network brand.

Burrows assumed leadership of Cox’s Las Vegas cable communications system in March 2009. Previously she was vice president and general manager of Cox Communications, Roanoke, Va., where she and her team were the first Cox system to launch Cox Digital Telephone Service utilizing VoIP technology in 2004. 

Burrows came to Cox from Denver and Time Warner Cable, where she served as vice president of online services for the National Division. Prior to that, she was the senior vice president of business development and one of nine founding partners at Callahan Associates International, a hybrid investment/operating company with businesses in cable, wireless and wireless data in Europe. Her early experience included 13 years with U S WEST, one of the original Baby Bell companies, and last served as the managing director and vice president of international business development for Europe and Latin America.

She was most recently honored as a 2010 Woman to Watch by In Business Las Vegas and serves on the Board of Trustees of the College of Southern Nevada Foundation, and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.  She is a past chair of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association.  In addition, she served as a Governor’s appointee to the Roanoke Higher Education Authority and is a member of both the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing and Women in Cable and Telecommunications.

Burrows earned her Bachelor’s degree and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. 

She enjoys traveling with her husband, Steve, reading, music of all sorts, gardening and exploring new areas of the country.
