Melissa Meek is a Senior Transmission Systems Technician at ESPN. She is on the team that manages ESPN’s private, fiber network, providing over 400 services to 34 facilities in 9 countries. Her responsibilities include Tier 3 support and working with Engineering on projects for upgrades, expansion, and enhancement of the fiber network and the customers it serves.
While at ESPN she has also managed ESPN’s on-site Transmission facilities at large, International events including the 2012 London Olympics, 2013 Tignes XGames , and 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Prior to ESPN, Melissa spent 8 years with PSSI Global Services as an Uplink Engineer. She operated most of the C and Ku-band fleet, working multi-camera media tours, Domestic and International news and sporting events. She handled stressful situations, long hours, and varied conditions to cover events such as the Sept 11 attacks in NYC, the Columbia Shuttle disaster, Ronald Reagan’s passing, and Hurricane Katrina for major news networks.
Melissa’s media career began as a Producer at Snowshoe Mountain Resort. She wrote, shot, and edited programming for the Resort station, Snowshoe TV. In addition she worked with visiting media outlets shooting standups, providing b-roll, and operated the resort’s uplink truck for live shots and Video News Releases. In 2001, she won a Bronze Telly for a package she produced for the "24 Hours of Snowshoe" bike relay.
