Monica Trasandes

Monica Trasandes is the Director of Programs, Spanish-Language and Latinx Media at GLAAD.  As a spokesperson, she has done more than 40 interviews on local, national and international news programs including CNN en Español, Telemundo, Univision and for many radio and print outlets. She and her team have pitched, placed and media trained over 100 community members and leaders, conducting trainings and one-on-one coaching sessions. She has worked on various projects including an important 2010 study that found growing support among Latinos for LGBT issues and people.

 

Monica is also a writer and her novel, “Broken Like This,” was published in 2012 by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s Press. She was born in Uruguay and grew up in California. She has a B.A. in International Relations from U.C. Santa Barbara and an MFA from Emerson College.
