Nora Zimmett

Nora Zimmett is the Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President of Weather Group, parent company of The Weather Channel television network. Nora oversees all aspects of the network’s live and original programming and its world-renowned storm coverage. She will also be responsible for content development and building a new team for The Weather Channel en Español, launching in 2020.

Nora was recently named to the 2019 “Top Women in Media” list by Cynopsis and in 2018 she was named one of the most creative people in business by Fast Company and one of the most powerful women in television by Cablefax. She is active in Women in Cable Telecommunications and is a part of the prestigious Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, the flagship leadership development program of the cable and telecommunications industry.

Nora has been instrumental in developing the network’s award-winning Immersive Mixed Reality (IMR) technology, and led the network to a 2018 Emmy nomination for the team’s coverage of Hurricane Harvey as well as record-breaking ratings in 2017. Last year under Nora’s purview, time spent viewing for the network leapt 31% year-over-year and delivered over 5,000 hours of live television.

Prior to her current role, Nora served as the Senior Vice President of content and programming for the network. Prior to joining The Weather Channel, Nora worked at CNN as co-creator and executive producer of both New Day Weekend and Smerconish. Prior to joining CNN, Nora held senior producer and producer roles at Bloomberg Television and Fox News Channel

Nora graduated with honors from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in English.
