Penelope Manis

Penelope Manis is the Director of Business Programming for CNN International based in New York.

Manis recently helped launched the expansion of the CNNMoney brand internationally across CNN’s television and digital platforms. CNNMoney is a product which offers coverage of global markets and the economy, business strategy, corporate leadership and more. Manis will continue to lead the multi-platform editorial teams in New York, London, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and South Africa, and oversee programming of "Quest Means Business", "CNNMoney View with Nina Dos Santos" and "CNNMoney with Maggie Lake". Promoted to this role in the fall of 2014, Manis previously served as Executive Producer of CNN Business Programming.

Manis also worked as a Senior Producer for "AC360", a primetime CNN program hosted by Anderson Cooper and broadcast in both the U.S. and around the world on CNNI. The show covers breaking national and international news related to politics, international developments and social issues. Manis oversaw a staff of over 30 production personnel and played a leading role selecting and launching stories and guest segments.

Manis’ hard work has not gone unnoticed. She led a team on "AC360" that won two Emmy awards for reporting of the Haiti earthquake, and an Emmy for a documentary focused on the issue of bullying. Other awards include a George Foster Peabody Award for coverage of Hurricane Katrina as well as the 2008 Presidential Campaign coverage. Her team also received an Alfred I. duPont Award for reporting of the South Asian tsunami, and an Emmy nomination for the "AC360" investigative report, "Highway Robbery?"

Manis joined CNN 20 years ago as an associate producer for CNN’s Washington bureau where she covered U.S.-Latin American relations. She then transferred to CNN’s Atlanta headquarters to become an editorial producer, booking and pre-interviewing newsmakers and analysts on CNN/U.S., CNN International and CNN en Español.

Manis has worked overseas in CNN’s London offices for several years, selecting and producing stories for CNN’s European and Middle Eastern audiences. She brings both domestic and global journalistic expertise to her current role as a member of CNNI’s Management Team.

Manis received a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and a Minor in Communications from American University in Washington, DC. She completed a semester overseas at the Universidad Completense de Madrid in the Spring of 1994.
