Prim Siripipat was born in Mexico, Missouri and began playing tennis at the age of seven. At 12, she moved to Tampa, Florida to attend Saddlebrook Tennis Academy to pursue a career in tennis. There, she trained with some of the best, including Jennifer Capriati, Martina Hingis, Andy Roddick, and Mardy Fish. After being named Valedictorian, earning a top ten national ranking, and traveling with Team USA, Prim earned a full scholarship to Duke University.
While at Duke, the women’s tennis team was ranked top ten in the country and earned a #1 national ranking for the first time ever. After years of competition, however, Prim was forced to undergo surgery on her right shoulder, right knee and left knee during her junior year. It was then that she realized her time on the court was winding down. And with the encouragement from one of her professors, Prim decided to pursue her next career: as a sportscaster.
After graduating from Duke, Prim landed her first job in television as an intern making $7 per hour at the number #1 TV station in Raleigh, North Carolina, WRAL-TV. One year later, she joined News 14 Carolina in Raleigh as a news producer.
In 2004, she tried out for ESPN’s Dream Job, the American Idol for sportscasters. Out of the thousands of people throughout the country, Prim was one of 30 to reach the finals in New York City. Out of those 30, only ten contestants made it onto the actual ESPN Dream Job show. Unfortunately, Prim was not one of them. But that was a turning point in her career and she used that "defeat" as a source of motivation.
Thereafter, while working in North Carolina, Prim worked her way up from news producer to sports reporter to sports anchor. In 2007, she landed a job with CBS-4 in Miami, Florida as a sports reporter and eventually, became the number two sports anchor. While at WFOR, she had an instrumental role with the Miami Dolphins pre-game and post-game shows, and also covered the Miami Heat, Miami Marlins, Florida Panthers, and Miami Hurricanes.
In March 2011, Prim joined the Worldwide Leader of Sports as an anchor. At ESPN, Prim covers a variety of sports (e.g. NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MMA, golf and, of course, tennis) and is a consistent contributor to all platforms, including ESPN.com, television, and ESPN Radio. She has hosted a variety of shows, including Sports Center, First Take, as well as His & Hers. Prim also has her own national radio show "ESPN-W presents Spain & Prim," which airs every Saturday from 12-2pm ET on ESPN Radio. She is also the co-host of "Operation Football," which airs 3-7pm ET Sunday’s during NFL season on ESPN Radio.
