Risa Matthews

Risa Matthews serves as director of ad sales marketing for Scripps Networks Interactive’s Home category brands—HGTV and DIY Network. In this role, she is directly responsible for the business development and production of national revenue-generating integrated marketing campaigns. Collaborating with key internal stake-holders from programming to business affairs, Risa enhances new business initiatives, facilitates talent endorsement deals with network talent, and develops partnership marketing opportunities with clients like Target, Disney, SC Johnson and many more. She also oversees the execution of HGTV Smart Home, including development of the property, procurement of advertiser sponsorships, and coordination of consumer-facing marketing activities.

Prior to HGTV and DIY Network, Risa worked for sister networks Food Network and Cooking Channel as manager of ad sales marketing. In this position, her team was awarded “Most Creative Program Sold to a Client” at the 2012 CableFAXIES Awards for Food Network’s partnership with DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels for the promotion of Great Food Truck Race; the team was also named “Brand Integration Team of the Year.”  In 2011, Risa received internal recognition when she was selected as the “Unsung Hero” for Food Network and Cooking Channel at the annual sales meeting.

Preceding Scripps, Risa supported various departments as director of marketing at ION Media Networks during her seven years at the company. Most recently as director of sales marketing, she oversaw the development and implementation of ION Television marketing initiatives for the ad sales and content distribution teams. Working under the direction of an integrated marketing group, Risa also supported consumer marketing and corporate marketing initiatives, from new series launches to trade marketing.

Risa holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communication and minor in advertising from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. She currently resides in New York City.
