Sandy Colony

Sandy Colony is the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications for Insight Communications, the nation’s 9th largest cable operator.  In this capacity she has oversight of the company’s internal and external communications, including media and public relations, public affairs, community relations and web initiatives.   She also manages a company-wide program designed to foster a more competitive work-force.

A 20-year veteran of the cable industry, Ms. Colony joined Insight in 2004 after a long association with Time Warner.  She began her career in cable at Time Warner Cable of New York City in 1985 where she served in a number of positions, ultimately became vice president, corporate communications.  She was a member of the team that launched Time Warner Cable’s high-speed data service, Road Runner in 1996 and also served as vice president, communications for Mystro TV, a business unit of Time Warner formed to create advanced competitive services.  

During her cable career, Ms. Colony has also held positions as vice president, corporate communications at StarBand Communications Inc., a high-speed, satellite-delivered Internet service, and vice president, public relations at the Food Network.  Prior to joining the cable industry, Ms. Colony was active in the not-for-profit sector, serving as Executive Director of NARAL in New York State.

Ms. Colony holds a B.A. degree from Skidmore College and an M.A. from The New School For Social Research in New York City.  She has served on numerous industry and charitable boards and committees and is currently on the Cable Television Public Affairs Association board of directors.  She was awarded a Key Award for her work in the AIDS community in 1990 and was inducted into the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers in 1989.
