Sarah Gaffney

As manager of public affairs for CMT, Sarah Gaffney promotes and executes CMT’s corporate social responsibility and community outreach. She manages strategic partnerships with CMT’s non-profit partners, policy advocates and a diverse array of community figures in Nashville.  Gaffney oversees the employee volunteer program, orchestrating a variety of volunteer events for staff throughout the year.

Gaffney has been instrumental the growth of the digital and social media presence of channel’s national call to volunteerism, CMT One Country, which is the cornerstone of CMT public affairs. She aided in the implementation of CMT’s local partnership with McGavock High School, and continues to manage that partnership. Most recently, Gaffney helped launch the CMT Empowering Education campaign, which encourages viewers to pursue post-secondary education. Her research helped shaped the development and direction of this initiative from its infancy.

Gaffney began her career with CMT in 2007 upon receiving her bachelor’s degree in human and organizational development at Vanderbilt University. She currently serves as the Advisory Board Chair for the CMT Academy of Digital Design and Communication at McGavock High School. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Nashville Area Habitat Young Professionals, and volunteers with Musicians on Call, Meals on Wheels, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.
