Shimika Wilder Jones

Shimika Wilder Jones is the Vice President of Finance for The Weather Channel. 

 

She is responsible for leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for the television network.  Shimika plays an integral role in helping to drive business results and ensure achievement of the company’s profit and cash flow goals.  Shimika partners with senior executives across the organization – including programming, advertising sales, distribution, and technology  – in evaluating the impact of potential business risks and opportunities, new operating models, industry trends, and emerging product offerings to facilitate key decision-making.  Additionally, Shimika provides ad-hoc strategic and financial analytical support to C-level leadership and external stakeholders. 

 

Before joining The Weather Channel in 2015, Shimika worked for the White House Office of Management & Budget, where she provided policy, program management, budgetary, legislative, and organizational oversight of five government corporations. 

 

Prior to pursuing a five-year stint in public service, Shimika held various management consulting and corporate finance positions at IBM (within its global business services division) and Wasserman Media Group (within its start-up digital sports content arm).  Shimika started out her career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, where she executed M&A and financing transactions for clients in the media, entertainment, telecommunications, and technology sectors. 

 

Shimika serves as a committee chair on the Young Leaders Council of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, participates as a mentor with the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), and is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT).

 

Shimika graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
