Director of Affiliate Sales The Weather Channel
Susan Shragg is Director of Affiliate Sales at The Weather Channel. In this position, she is responsible for overall affiliate relationships with Charter, Comcast (West), SuddenLink, and NCTC . Her responsibilities include contract negotiations, directs sales efforts in building and strengthening TWC affiliate relationships, and serves as key liaison with the legal department to ensure appropriate contractual requirements are met. Shragg secures commitments and manages the implementation of new launches of The Weather Channel, Weatherscan and other new products and services. She contributes to the creation of department strategies, marketing and sales programs and new product information, and she works to protect and maintain existing cable revenue streams. Based in Los Angeles, Shragg directs and supervises the Affiliate Sales Western Division staff; these responsibilities include budget and account management, hiring, training, establishing goal expectations, and performance reviews.
Shragg was promoted to her present position in 2003. Prior to that, she was Director of the Western Division, a position she held in 2002 and 2003. Previously, she held positions at The Weather Channel that included: Regional Manager, Southwest, Affiliate Sales in 2001 and 2002. She joined the company in 1997 as a coordinator for the Western Division of Affiliate Sales. The following year, she was promoted to Account Manager, Southwest, Affiliate Sales.
Before joining The Weather Channel, Shragg was in the fashion industry where she had responsibility for producing some of the country’s largest menswear and kidswear fashion show events for California Mart.
As Director of Affiliate Sales, Shragg focuses efforts at the field and MSO levels towards protecting and maintaining existing cable revenue streams through the execution of affiliation agreements for the TWC core service, Weatherscan and for solutions-oriented products and service with assigned MSOs. She works proactively to identify and analyze measurable opportunities within each assigned MSO, keeping abreast of all aspects of business through review of contracts, meetings with customers and staying informed through trade publications.
With national account responsibility for Charter, Comcast (West), Suddenlink and NCTC, she handles day-to-day operations for the entire MSO corporate offices, with responsibility within the Programming, Ad Sales, Marketing, Interactive, On-Line, Public Affairs and Education departments. She has supervisory responsibilities for one Account Executive and one Senior Manager, Affiliate Sales, overseeing all systems for Charter, CableOne , Comcast (West), SuddenLink, and NCTC. She is responsible for securing MSO/system participation in TWC cross channel marketing initiatives, initiating and implementing specific awareness, and viewership campaigns within targeted MSO markets. She also ensures that assigned MSO marketing and LAS training needs are being met.
