Susan Vieira

Susan Vieira is a Director of Quality Assurance at ESPN.  In this role, she oversees Quality Assurance analysts who perform software testing.  Her 33-person team is responsible for testing a variety of applications, which support many business aspects of ESPN.  Through the disciplines of manual, automation, service, and data integration/migration validation testing, her team’s goal is to help ensure a high-quality experience for users of ESPN’s business applications.

Susan began her career at ESPN 30 years ago in what was expected to be a 2-day temporary assignment.  She spent 16 years in Customer Marketing and Sales, managing sales coordinators who supported the clearance of commercial units sold to advertisers by ESPN’s account executives, and was instrumental in contributing to the creation and implementation of a slotting engine used to automatically place commercials in purchased programming.  She went on to become a business analyst, and spent 6 years writing business and functional requirements documentation detailing software changes, along with testing the changes prior to release to production.  She next joined the Quality Assurance team, where she has held several leadership positions, and currently enjoys the fast-paced and exciting world of software development and quality assurance testing.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University.  She resides in Connecticut and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.  In her spare time, she loves reading, trying new recipes, and the challenge of learning new pieces of piano music.
