Susan Weinstein

Susan Weinstein is Group Vice President, Content Acquisition, at Time Warner Cable, having served as Vice President of Programming until early 2011. In her current role, she is responsible for negotiating content distribution deals with major cable networks, directing programming strategy and managing relationships with various programming partners. She also negotiates national retransmission consent agreements with broadcasters and networks as well as VOD deals with numerous movie studios and other content providers.

Before joining Time Warner Cable in 2007, Ms. Weinstein worked at Sirius Satellite Radio, where she also negotiated programming deals. During her tenure, the service experienced tremendous growth, growing from 20,000 subscribers to close to 20 million subscribers. She acquired programming for talk radio, including negotiating two exclusive NPR channels for Sirius as well as the first distribution deals with the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League to air live games on satellite radio.  Finally, Ms. Weinstein negotiated the first “backseat TV” deals, which delivered three channels of live video (Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network) directly to cars.

Before Sirius, Ms. Weinstein held senior management positions at Primetime24, where she was the Senior Vice President and General Manager.  There, she directed sales and marketing strategies for the nation’s largest provider of broadcast network signals to the Direct to Home market.  Prior to that, she was Vice President of Programming at Showtime, where she negotiated agreements with premium and basic networks for Showtime’s satellite business.  Earlier in her career, she held programming positions at Showtime negotiating movie and event deals.

Ms. Weinstein received her bachelor’s degree from The University of Rochester in New York, graduating cum laude. She lives in Irvington, New York with her husband and twin daughters.
