Svetlana Gans

Svetlana S. Gans is Vice President and Associate General Counsel for NCTA – The Internet and Television Association where she helps lead competition and consumer protection policy and advocacy. Prior to joining NCTA in July 2018, Ms. Gans served as the Chief of Staff to the Federal Trade Commission Acting Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen. As Chief of Staff, Ms. Gans created, executed, and oversaw strategic initiatives to advance the Chairman’s priorities, served as the Chairman’s liaison to other federal and state agencies, Congress, and other stakeholders, and served as the Acting Chairman’s key advisor on policy and litigation matters before the agency. Ms. Gans began at the FTC in 2010, joining from private practice, after serving as an Honors Paralegal in the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.

Ms. Gans has served in WICT Chapter leadership for several years in various roles, including Sponsorship and Outreach Chair, and has run several successful program initiatives such as Women Leading Washington and Women in Career Transitions. Ms. Gans currently serves as the Chapter Advisor. In addition to WICT, Ms. Gans is active in the Federal Communications Bar Association, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Diversity Pipeline Initiative, Women’s Initiative, and the Ad-Hoc Consumer Protection Committee. Ms. Gans also serves on the governing body of the ABA Antitrust Law Section. Ms. Gans is actively engaged in mentoring younger lawyers and law students interested in antitrust and consumer protection work, and women in cable, through WICT’s mentoring program. In her spare time, Ms. Gans is an avid [hockey, lacrosse, and soccer] mom.
