Thalina Bates is Senior Director of Content Distribution for Univision Communications, Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America. In her role, Thalina collaborates on the sales and licensing efforts for stations and digital platforms across multiple genres, including broadcast television, sports and Spanish-language programming. She has participated in strategic planning and the negotiation of deals under a variety of business models with major linear and OTT content distributors including Netflix and AT&T, as well as regional distributors across the country.
Her responsibilities include distribution and promotion of the company’s diverse broadcast cable portfolio, which includes Univision and UniMás, as well as Univision Deportes Network, the No. 1 Spanish-language sports network, among other cable networks. Thalina also works on business development partnerships for UCI’s direct-to-consumer subscription video service, Univision NOW and digital content licensing deals for UCI content.
Prior to joining UCI, Thalina was an Account Manager, Cable Division at Universal Electronics, Inc., the leader in wireless technology for the connected home, where she managed key accounts in the U.S. and Latin America. Before that, Thalina worked at BeneFact, an insurance broker in Mexico City, where she led a sales team to consistent revenue increases for the company.
Thalina has served as Co-Treasurer and Sponsorship Chair for the Women in Cable Telecommunications’ Northern California chapter.
Thalina graduated from Centro de Estudios Superiores de San Angel in Mexico City with a Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Arts.
