Thelma Barker

Thelma Barker is currently a Director and Sr. Client Partner at Comcast Government Services. In her role she has responsibility for driving strategy on IT modernization across the United States for the Department of Defense using Comcast’s vast portfolio of connectivity, content and security solutions.
Prior to Comcast, Thelma spent 12 ½ years in leadership roles with Lumen formally CenturyLink providing next generation technology solutions to both federal Civilian and Department of Defense agencies.

Thelma has over 20 years of experience in leadership, sales and marketing and business development focused on the Federal Government. Under her leadership teams of sales professionals have exceeded revenue goals through consultative and trusted partner relationship engagement with the Departments of the Military and the former DoD Fourth Estate to supporting mission critical IT initiatives.

To enhance her industry experience, Thelma has held various board positions with the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Washington DC Chapter (AFCEA DC) and the Independent Telecommunications Pioneer’s Association Nation Capital Chapter (ITPA NCC) She previously served as Vice President Operations and currently serves as Vice President of DE&I on the AFCEA DC Executive Board. She has severed as President and currently serves as 1st Past President for ITPA NCC. Thelma is a Fellow of the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC).

Thelma is an active member of her church and community. She is currently a member of her church Board of Directors and co-chairs the Constitution and By Laws committee.

Thelma’s personal interest and passions include reading, travel, cooking, event planning and shoes. She is a proud 2nd generation graduate of Hampton University. She resides in northern Virginia with her husband and daughter.
