Vickie Fiala is the Vice President of Operations Planning for Time Warner Cable, the second largest cable operator in the US. In this role, Vickie fulfils a critical organizational need by owning the strategic and contingency planning for commercial and residential Digital Phone service for all of Time Warner Cable. Two recent accomplishments highlight her success in this position; first was Vickie’s management of a certification project which ensured service readiness for over seven million homes and businesses. Second, was managing the transition of 850K subscribers from one network provider to another, resulting in an annual savings of over $55M for Time Warner Cable. Vickie joined Time Warner Cable in 2004 and has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to assuming her current role, Vickie was responsible for the day-to-day operations of Time Warner Cable’s Digital Phone VoIP network. Preceding Time Warner Cable, Vickie held key positions at Winstar and U S West. As Senior Director of Engineering at Winstar, Vickie facilitated the engineering and activation of a competitive local exchange network, offering local and long distance service to business and government customers in forty metropolitan cities. Vickie began her career at U S West, starting as an outside plant technician in Sioux City, Iowa and advanced her career through the organization to become Manager of Central Office Engineering where she engineered digital switches, fiber-optic transmission equipment, and -48V battery plants for more than two hundred central offices in Minnesota and Utah. To complement her organizational achievements, Vickie maintains a strong presence in key leadership and development opportunities. Vickie is a Member-at-Large of the DC/Baltimore Chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications’ Board of Directors and an active member of Women in Cable Telecommunications. Moreover, Vickie continues to value knowledge sharing and positive growth by serving as a mentor to several up and coming leaders within the cable and telecommunications industry. While residing in Minnesota, she also served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Minneapolis Telco Credit Union. Vickie and her husband, Bob, reside in Ashburn, Virginia. Most weekends you will find them working on various remodeling projects at their weekend getaway in southern Maryland.
