Vicky Duval

​Vicky Duval, 20 years old, was born in Miami, Fl. After winning her first International 10 and under tournament, at the age of 7, she decided to give up her young ballet career and focus solely on tennis. Vicky’s passion for the sport was fueled by watching and competing against her two older brothers.

 

At 16 years old, Vicky won the 18s National Championship which granted her a Main Draw Wildcard into the Us Open. She had a memorable experience on Arthur Ashe stadium, under the lights, against one of her idols – Kim Clijsters. The following year, she successfully went through the qualifying at the Us Open and upset former champion Samantha Stosur, in the first round. Vicky began shooting up the rankings but in the summer of 2014, everything would change. She was diagnosed with Cancer – Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

 

Vicky underwent sessions of chemotherapy and was declared cancer free at the end of 2014. Through hard work and perseverance, Vicky worked her way back to competition in the fall of 2015. She is in the process of rebuilding her strength and has her eyes set on once again competing at the grand-slam level.
