Yetta Banks

As an architect, Yetta Banks takes great pride in her ability to transforms her client’s idea into innovative expressive experiences.  

 

Yetta Banks, design executive that brings nearly two decades of design and construction management experience to the corporate real estate and media industry. For last 15 years, she has lent her creative vision at Viacom where she now serves as Vice-President of Design and Construction.  Whether new construction, renovation or expansion, in this exigent role, Banks assumes leadership responsibilities for all workplace strategies, design, furniture, project and cost management activities across all Viacom properties. This responsibility includes developing the creative experience for the varied Viacom brands.  If you have ever walked the corridors and office spaces supporting major television networks, MTV, BET, Nickelodeon, VH1, Comedy Central, TV Land or Spike TV, you have experienced Banks’ vision to re-imagine those spaces.

 

Prior to joining Viacom, Banks worked as an architect for Carlsten Associates in Atlanta, Georgia. Her experience included design and project management, and project mobilization on a range of projects. Her diverse architectural background includes architectural design projects for retail, residential and corporate facilities.

 

Banks who started her career as a visual stylist developed her passion for fashion and interior design at a major retailer. She holds degrees in Architecture and Interior Design from Georgia Institute of Technology and The American Intercontinental University, respectively. Banks also studied Architecture at, Ecole d’La Vellette, in Paris, France. Some of her projects have been highlighted in Trend, Contract, Interior Design Magazine, New York Post and Lonny Magazines.

 

Banks channels her creative talents to help further the mission of Housing Works, where she serves on the board.  She also serves as co-chair and designer for Housing Works largest yearly fundraiser, "Design on A Dime".  Banks is an alumnus of NAMIC’s Executive Leadership Development Program and serves as a mentor for Viacom’s Summer Associate Program.  Banks is the first recipient of Viacom’s ViaCommunity Day Award.  She is the co-chair of HERE, Viacom’s Women Employee Resource Group.  She is also member of WITC, Coronet and IIDA.

 

In her spare time, Banks is stalking TED talks, design and fashion blogs. She is a collector of magazines & books, lover of tennis, music, and all things media and women.

 

Banks is a proud native of Atlanta, Georgia and currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, Tracey Collins.
