WICT Midwest: How to Promote Yourself Authentically to Gain New Opportunities

January 10 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am CST

The Art of Brag: How to Promote Yourself Authentically to Gain New Opportunities

Recent research from LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Company found that women’s probability of advancement is 15% lower than men. There are several reasons for this. Women do not actively network or promote themselves as much as men. Additionally, studies show women don’t tend to actively pursue mentors, advocates and sponsors. Keisha Mabry’s “The Art of Brag” session is a lesson on networking and promoting yourself authentically to gain new opportunities that you may not even be aware of. Keisha uses 10+ years of networking experience and 500+ conversation starters to equip you with the tools to be a confident, effective networker. From this session you will gain four proven strategies to enrich your network, boost your executive presence, and promote yourself without coming off as arrogant.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will learn networking tips and conversation starters to create a meaningful connection.

2. Attendees will learn how to creatively recognize and promote other women.

3. Attendees will learn how to gain exposure by finding and applying for awards and rewards.

4. Attendees will learn how to pursue mentors, advocates and sponsors by connecting with others in higher positions.
