About the Fellowships
WICT is committed to supporting its members at every stage of their careers and is proud to offer three fellowships to attend the WICT Leadership Conference. Our largest event of the year, the Leadership Conference is among the most sought-after executive education programs for industry professionals.
The June Travis, Cheryl Greene and Lucille Larkin Fellowships, named after early WICT leaders, were created to provide opportunities for deserving candidates to experience all that the WICT Leadership Conference has to offer while alleviating the burden of travel and registration expenses. June Travis Fellowship
Shinese M. Collins
Senior Marketing Manager
Shinese M. Collins is a Senior Marketing Manager for Cox Communications in the East Region. During her 20 + years in the telecommunications industry, Shinese has acquired extensive communication, relationship-building, planning, presentation, coaching, and development expertise. She has served on the WICT Virginia Chapter board for several years and is currently the co-chair of mentoring. Shinese is also the secretary for the NAMIC Virginia Chapter.
Accordingly, to further share her expertise within the areas, she authored a book in 2016 entitled Resilient on Purpose and in 2018 she collaborated on a book entitled Leadership TKO for Women (Vol II) How You Can W.I.N. as a Lady Leader When Life Deals You an “L”. Shinese has been a featured keynote speaker for women’s associations (including Women in Cable Telecommunications Virginia Chapter), religious organizations, and networking marketers.
To complement her work experience, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA and a Masters Business Administration degree from Averett University in Danville, VA. She is also a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, a Certified Product Manager, and a Certified Life Coach.
Shinese is married and has a daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, working with her sorority, and doing ministry with her church. Her passion is to guide women to remove self-imposed boundaries and become the high achievers they were designed to be.
Cheryl Greene Fellowship
Director, Community Impact
Maria Wilson Holmes, of Belleville, MI, is the Director of Community Impact of the Comcast Heartland Region and has been an employee in the cable industry for over 35 years in three career fields; video production, government affairs, and corporate social responsibility.
Having earned a BA in Communications from Eastern Michigan University, Maria began with managing two cable television studios and worked in community relations for more than 15 years where she covered historic events such as the President and Pope visits to metro-Detroit communities. As a government affairs manager for more than 10 years, Maria negotiated contracts, facilitated compliance tracking and representing Comcast to more than 50 local government agencies.
Maria currently oversees community impact programs such as national and local outreach initiatives, employee engagement and giving programs. Maria and her team work diligently with hundreds of non-profit organizations to cultivate, facilitate, and monitor relationships as well as create, develop, expedite and track programs and sponsorships. Maria also administers Comcast Foundation grants for the region.
Maria has been a member of the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) Great Lakes Chapter for more than 25 years having served as Vice President, President as well as the chair of many committees. Currently, Maria serves on the Past Presidents Council, a group of GL WICT Past Presidents that support the organization with succession planning, by-law revisions and other project that can benefit from extended experience. Maria serves on several other boards and committees including Washtenaw Literacy, Habitat for Humanity of Macomb County and the Detroit Chapter of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC). She has formerly served on the board or committees of Plymouth Community Way, United Way of Washtenaw County, Washtenaw and Livingston County Economic Clubs, Livingston Diversity Council and Plymouth Business and Professional Women and many others. Maria is an appointee of Governor Snyder serving on the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) and she is a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters Metropolitan Detroit (BBBSMD). She has served as an executive board member and president for numerous organizations over the years. Maria has been professionally recognized with various awards including ATHENA, Carla Laufer (WICT), Know Your Value and numerous video production and industry awards. Her leadership has resulted in several company awards and recognitions as well. Maria is valued by her co-works and is sought out for her experience and counsel.
Maria and her husband, King S. Holmes, Jr., of over 40 years are parents of three adult children; Karissa, a Senior Counsel and Portfolio Strategist at Rock Ventures LLC and Co-Founder/ CEO of Out of D Box; Andre’ (wife, Megan/HS Spanish Teacher) an architectural project manager at the University of Michigan and Matthew, a 3-D artist at 3DExcite in Royal Oak, MI. In January of 2017, Maria and Solomon welcomed their first granddaughter, Charlotte Lucille. Maria and her husband are deacons at Abundant Harvest Church of Belleville where they serve together in ministry on the finance, compassion and administration teams. Maria also works closely with the Youth Ministry Team. Maria is passionate about serving others. Maria is inspired by her parents who taught her service above self; she is determined to do the same – to leave a legacy of honor, care, compassion and excellence in leadership.
Lucille Larkin Fellowship
Vice President, Tax Compliance and Treasury Operations
Debra Jensen is the Vice President of Tax Compliance and Treasury Operations for INSP, a family-entertainment television network headquartered near Charlotte, NC in Indian Land, SC. In addition to her responsibilities at the cable network, she directs tax and treasury activities for various subsidiaries of the parent organization, including the motion picture production company, INSP Films. Throughout her tenure at INSP, Debra has proven to be a positive role model for her staff by encouraging and facilitating professional development within the industry. She attended the 2017 Leadership Conference, the 2018 Rising Leaders Program in San Diego and was a nominee for 2018 Volunteer of the Year with the Carolinas Chapter.
She is an active member of WICT Carolinas where she served as a Mentoring Circles, Mentor and the 2018 Finance Committee, Chapter Treasurer for WICT Carolinas. Debra regularly participates in WICT networking and career development events. She embraces all of WICTS Touchstones and models success in whatever role she retains.
Debra graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and began her career in public accounting with KPMG as an auditor then as a tax accountant. She is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Treasury Professional. Born and raised in South Dakota, Debra now calls South Carolina home. She has 3 children and two grandsons. She enjoys the outdoors, playing guitar, old cars, and spending time with family and friends.
