2017 Spirit of the Midwest Awards Program

WICT Midwest held its eighth annual Spirit of the Midwest Awards event in conjunction with Tech It Out Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

 

The program honored three outstanding women in the industry with the following awards:

  • Rising Leader Award: Tara Anderson, Altice USA
  • Woman in Technology Award:  Marsha Gee, Altice USA
  • Spirit of the Midwest Award:  Kimberly Noetzel, Charter Communications

WICT Midwest Hosts Tech It Out Luncheon

 

More than 90 industry professionals attended Tech It Out luncheon on May 10. The event featured a panel discussion led by Pamela Hermann, VP of Business Performance Management, Altice USA. Panelists include Eilisa Reid, VP of Application Platform Operations, Charter Communications, Amber Schwiesow, Director of Business Engineering and Operations, Midcontinent Communications, Edmond Shapiro, Director of Technical Sales, Service Provider Video, Cisco Systems, Cathy Fogler, VP of Communications, Media & Entertainment; Jay Carlson,  SVP-IT, Chief Information Officer, Charter Communications.

The program honored three outstanding women in the industry with the following awards:

  • Rising Leader Award: Jada Marcotte, Operations Supervisor, Comcast
  • Woman in Technology Award:  Erin Hayes, Director of Corporate Construction, Midco
  • Spirit of the Midwest Award:  Pamela Hermann, VP, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Suddenlink Communications

We welcomed our special guest from WICT National, Nicole Edmund, AVP, Membership & Chapter Relations.

WICT Midwest Hosts Tech It Out Luncheon

 

More than 70 industry professionals attended “The Future” Tech It Out luncheon on May 11. The event featured a panel discussion led by Suddenlink Communication Senior Manager Advance Services Tim Angel. Panelists include Angela Rinaldo; Charter Communications Senior Director of Video Operations, Andrew Solarz; Cisco Systems Business Development Manager, Gary Shawd;

Midcontinent Vice President Information Systems, Amber Hangen; Comcast Network Engineer.

 

Prior to the panel discussion, World Wide Technology, Inc. VP Global Human Resources Ann Marr spoke with Suddenlink VP Business Intelligence and Analytics and WICT Midwest Board Member Pamela Hermann, sharing with the audience on WWT's Intern program giving opportunities to collegiate students to work in a technology company and the importance of exposing young people to STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education and career exploration.

More than 130 industry professionals attended “The Internet of Things” Tech It Out luncheon on May 13. The event featured a panel discussion led by Charter VP/GM Sean O’Donnell. Panelists included Suddenlink CTO Terry Cordova; ARRIS VP Sales & Development, Video Solutions, Susan George; Comcast CCAD President Bridget Kimball; Charter VP/GM Melissa Morris; and World Wide Technology Principle Consultant Chris Ward.

 

Prior to the panel discussion, U.S. Olympic champion and community activist Jackie Joyner-Kersee spoke with Suddenlink VP Business Intelligence and WICT Midwest Board Member Pamela Hermann, sharing with the audience her passion for giving back to youth, and the importance of exposing young people to STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education and career exploration.
 
TV One served as the event’s premier sponsor. TV One SVP Content Distribution & Strategy Rori Peters opened the event with a special welcome to Joyner-Kersee. Partner sponsors included SIGMA Systems and System Services Broadband, Inc.  The event was held in conjunction with the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Gateway Chapter’s annual Vendor Day.

The program honored three outstanding women in the industry with the following awards:

  • Rising Leader Award: Sally West, Director of Finance, Suddenlink Communications
  • Woman in Technology Award: Ginni Hartley, Director of Information Technology, Suddenlink Communications
  • Spirit of the Midwest Award: Theresa Sunde, Government Relations Manager, Mediacom

In addition, a special Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Patty McCaskill, Programming Advisor, Suddenlink.

WICT Midwest held our first annual Leadership Seminar and Panel Luncheon titled "Become the CEO of Your Job and Career'.  The keynote speaker was Joyce Schaefer, co-founder of Breakthrough ROI, and panelists Jim Fox, SVP & Chief Accounting Officer Suddenlink, Sean O'Donnell, VP and GM Charter, Patty McCaskill, retiring SVP & Chief Programming Officer Suddenlink, Dan Newham, Comcast HR Director and moderator Gene Reagan.
