On September 23, 2016, WICT Southern California hosted its annual Leadership Luncheon at Mr. C in Beverly Hills. The luncheon hosted attendees from Charter Communications, FOX, Scripps Networks and more.
Shola Richards, founder of the “Positivity Solution” and author of “Making Work, Work,” was the keynote speaker who both educated and entertained. He cited the African proverb “If you want to go far, go together,” reminding the audience that n any community, organization, or corporation, we cannot reach success autonomously, instead we can reach greater success as a team and by helping each other. A couple of weeks prior to delivering this content to WICT Southern California members, Shola addressed this very topic to hundreds of government officials at the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C.
The day ended with a book signing, as each attendee received a copy of Shola’s book “Making Work, Work.” This allowed WICT members to ask any additional questions on how we can contribute to workplace harmony, and have rich discussions with each other on what their key takeaway was from the days event. The room was a buzz of inspiration, new leadership goals, and thoughtfulness around how they could lead their teams in a more positive and productive manner.
