Theresa Hennesy Named 2016 Women in Technology Award Winner

Award Presented Jointly by WICT, SCTE/ISBE and Cablefax

Washington, DC - Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) / International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE) and Cablefax today named Theresa Hennesy the prestigious 2016 Women in Technology Award honoree. Hennesy, the Senior Vice President, Group Technical Advisor for Comcast Cable, is one of the most highly regarded professionals in cable technology.
 
The Women in Technology Award was first launched in 1995 to recognize and honor leading women in cable technology. The annual award lauds the achievements of one woman who demonstrates outstanding professional achievement and significantly contributes to the advancement of the cable telecommunications industry.
 
"We are proud to honor Theresa with this well-deserved award. Throughout her career, she has led technology developments and supported women in the technology sector, paving the way for others to follow in her footsteps," said Maria E. Brennan, CAE, President & CEO of WICT.
 
The 2015 winner, Vibha Rustagi, the CEO of itaas, a Cognizant Company, will present the 2016 Women in Technology Award during the Annual Awards Luncheon at SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo®, September 26-29 in Philadelphia, PA. As the 2016 Women in Technology Award recipient, Hennesy will be featured in an upcoming issue of Cablefax with an article detailing her numerous accomplishments.

Recipients of the award are eligible to serve as mentors for Women's TechConnect, a joint initiative of WICT and SCTE/ISBE that is designed to nurture the careers of high-potential women in technology fields.
 
About Theresa Hennesy
Theresa Hennesy, Senior Vice President, Group Technical Advisor for Comcast Cable, has led strategic initiatives that span across the company's technology organizations. In her tenure with Comcast, she has been responsible for leading thousands of engineers in the continuing mission of improving the customer experience, sustaining rapid growth economically, driving innovation everywhere and maximizing efficiencies.
 
Hennesy is a 30-year veteran of the communications industry. Prior to joining Comcast in 2011, she served as SVP of Network Operations for Vonage where she was responsible for all facets of the company's network operations, business infrastructure and application production operations.
 
Hennesy's extensive technology expertise and knowledge of the cable telecommunications industry led the Federal Communications Commission to name her as a member of the FCC Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council, as well as a member of the FCC Technical Advisory Council.


Hennesy is an active member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, Women in Cable Telecommunications, Women in Technology, and the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC).  She is a board member of the Philadelphia WICT chapter, has served as Executive Sponsor for the chapter and has co-led WICT "Tech it Out" events for a number of years. Hennesy has been a driving force behind Comcast's involvement with the SCTE/ISBE Energy 2020 initiative, a program that seeks to transform the industry's use of energy to reduce the environmental footprint of ongoing operations - and future growth.
