Award-Winning Olympic Correspondent and Tennis Analyst
Washington, DC – Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) announced today that Mary Carillo, an award-winning Olympic Correspondent and Tennis Analyst for NBC, will host the 2016 Signature Luncheon, to be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, MA. The event will take place on Monday, May 16, in conjunction with NCTA’s Internet and Television Expo (INTX).
Rio marks Carillo’s 13th Olympic assignment overall and 10th for NBC. She has spent nearly three weeks traversing Brazil to film her travelogues, which have been a fundamental part of introducing the people, culture, and history of the host country and city to the U.S. television audience since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Carillo also served as a correspondent for the 2014 Sochi Olympics and was the host and interviewer for a primetime 20-year retrospective documentary on Olympic figure skaters Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding. She was late night host and correspondent at the 2012 London Olympics, 2010 Vancouver Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics.
She has worked as a tennis analyst since 1980, including NBC’s and USA Network’s Grand Slam coverage since 2003. Carillo first triumphed in the world of professional tennis, winning the 1977 French Open mixed-doubles title in partnership with childhood-friend John McEnroe. Carillo has received two coveted Peabody Awards, one of television’s highest honors, one for work on the HBO documentary Billie Jean King, Portrait of a Pioneer and the other for co-writing with Frank DeFord the HBO documentary Dare to Compete: The Struggle of Women in Sport.
