For nearly 40 years, WICT has partnered with cable and technology companies to help build a more robust pipeline of women leaders. In celebration of this commitment, we will feature #WICTWOMENINTECHNOLOGY each month.

We are happy to showcase our WICT Greater Texas Chapter Past President, Tara Whitehead Stotland.

Tara Whitehead Stotland has been heavily involved with WICT for nine years, and has embraced the WICT Touchstones both in her personal and professional life. She attributes her involvement in WICT programs and leadership ,with helping her become “Fearless” and more confident in her ability to balance different roles in life – consultant; manager; mother and wife.

As a WICT member, Tara said her fondest memories are the amazing friends she’s made, and the honor of helping build Cognizant’s presence in WICT. Tara also says “Seeing other women who I admire and support win well deserved awards has been amazing. But I am most proud of starting the WICT GTX mentor program and watching it flourish and grow under amazing leaders.” #LeadWithMore

When asked what impact WICT has made on her career, Young said “I recall participating in WICT leadership sessions and speaker series, and appreciate the value they provided in order to help shape my career. Having others share their learnings and hard lessons has certainly saved me from a few bumps but also allowed me to see the real value in everyone’s authentic style.” #LeadWithMore

...

Juli Blanda has been a WICT member for the past six years, and she knows it has impacted her career, providing opportunity to learn and grow. She feels it is important for women to engage and participate in organizations like WICT, because its programs have shown her that she can be herself and lead with authenticity. One thing Blanda said changed her career path, is when she was laid-off. She realized she hadn’t done a great job with self-promotion. While a tough lesson, she knows that it lead to her current position. Juli shared, now she is more assertive, asks for feedback and doesn’t let uncertainties fester. #LeadWithMore

Nikia says that as women, we need to BE FEARLESS, pursue our passion and think outside of the box. She also says, in our industry, Don’t be afraid to speak up and let your voice be heard. Most importantly, commit to showing up as the best version of yourself EVERYDAY.

When asked, why is #BlackHistory important for individuals to celebrate, Farria-Green said ”It’s important to celebrate Black History because it highlights the many achievements made by African Americans. We have a rich history and have made significant contributions to society. By celebrating our rich history and culture we help inspire future generations.”
